A couple of interesting resources for transmedia (ARG), digital film distribution and such

Here are a couple of interesting resources I have stumbled on

1. A Twitter Panel About Film Distribution in the Digital Age - rosspruden.com/infdist/ - from the link -

#infdist stands for Infinite Distribution, an online panel about the future of film distribution. Read the panel here. RSS feed here.

#infdist is only on Twitter. This panel has no defined place or time—and it never concludes. Discussions & debate are ongoing.

Some questions the #infdist panel will address:

  • When digital copies can be infinitely distributed, how can the film business adapt?
  • Will some of the studios go belly up? Which film buyers will adapt first?
  • How much & how quickly will exhibitors be affected?
  • What role will P2P networks play? Will harsh measures like Britain's Digital Economy Bill accomplishing anything?

2. www.argology.org/2010/02/11/take-the-arg-demographic-survey/ - a survey that is working to see who really is into ARG (alternate reality games a major transmedia source) and even has some salary info that is being collected.

actually the entire site is a good one - here is a great overview of what an ARG is - www.argology.org/_what-is-an-arg/

3. A filmmakers (indy) guide to value rosspruden.blogspot.com/search/label/filmmakers_roadmap_value - especially check out part 2 here rosspruden.blogspot.com/2009/12/plea-to-consumers-part-2-of-6.html - some very interesting points are brought up and swirl into the mix about how media is changing in the digital age. I especially was interested in the mention of how different models for funding are being tried by filmakers.
